Veterans Day Observed at LISD
Posted Date: 11/07/2017
Veterans Day is an annual holiday dedicated to honoring all American veterans who have served in our military. It became a federal holiday in 1938 when it was known as Armistice Day, commemorating the veterans of World War I. Following World War II and the Korean War, the name was changed to Veterans Day to honor all of our veterans. This year it will fall on Saturday, November 11. All LISD schools will observe Veterans Day with special events on Friday, November 10.
Livingston Junior High will have a Veterans Day Ceremony on Friday at 9:00 am in the competition gym. Family, friends and local veterans are invited to attend.
Livingston Intermediate School will present their annual Veteran’s Day performance, “Letters From Home” on Friday, Nov. 10. There are six different performances. A veteran is honored during each performance with a presentation of a flag. The performance times are 8:00 am, 9:05 am, 10:10 am, 11:15 am, 1:15 pm and 2:20 pm.
Pine Ridge Elementary second and third-grade leaders are presenting programs during lunches and veterans will be attending lunch with the students.
