Government Classes Tutor History Students Livingston High School - During the week of April 14th – 18th, LHS was honored to have Abe Lincoln, the birthday boy, Samuel Adams, Betsy Ross, Charles Lindberg, Rosa Parks, The Wright Brothers, Caesar Chavez, Thomas Jefferson, Molly Pitcher, Albert Einstein, and a host of other famous historical heroes visit our campus. Ms. Yvonne Kelso, a first year teacher and coach, inspired her senior government students to become involved in helping to prepare the underclassmen for the upcoming Social Studies TAKS Test. Students were divided into groups of twos and threes and were allowed to research a person or persons that have had an impact on the United States. One member of each group was dressed in costume, thanks to LHS theatre teacher Lisa Henderson, to help portray the famous character while the other student gave a 3 to 5 minute bio on the person. Many students brought props to help instill a picture in the minds of our underclassmen the important role that each person played in the history of our country. Questions were asked and answered following each presentation. Sixth and seventh grade junior high history teachers were gracious enough to allow the government students the opportunity to share their knowledge with their classes as well. Posted on May 2, 2008 |
