Marine Graduate Visits High School Class
Submitted by Judy Powell, Livingston High School

LHS graduate and current U.S. Marine Carmaleta Dyson visited Mrs. Powell’s Desktop Design class on Monday, September 10 and shared her experiences since leaving LHS.  Carmaleta was a member of the Royal Brigade and Color Guard, in addition to many other activities at LHS. She has earned the rank of Lance Corporal since her boot camp graduation in June of 2007, and will be stationed in Hawaii.

She told the students, “Marine boot camp was a real challenge, but I was determined to make it.” Her husband is currently in Iraq, and she hopes to have some time with him before she is deployed to Iraq sometime next year.  She urged students to keep looking toward life after high school, develop a plan, set goals and never give up.”
