Gifted & Talented students had the opportunity to participate in a Christmas Community Service Project. Students collected money for needy families and were able to provide many items for those that are less fortunate. The students then wrote what having this experience meant to them. Please read how this touched the hearts of our youth.

Today I felt good and sad because I enjoyed giving stuff to others but I realized how many people don’t have enough money to buy these wonderful gifts. - Parker Blount – 5th Grade

Helping less fortunate kids made me feel extraordinary. It really made me think about waking up on Christmas day and not having any presents and how awful I would feel. I’m really glad I got to help others less fortunate than I. – Mikayla Fielding – 5th Grade

I think today was one of the best GT Christmas Shopping trips we ever had! All the girls teamed up with a little budgeting (and bickering) we got some cool gifts. It made me feel very kind and I hope the gifts make them very joyful kids. – Jalissa Williams – 5th Grade

I believe it was nice to give gifts to the less fortunate people because they see a bunch of kids with presents and they’d feel left out. I also feel better because they are getting at least one present this year. – Kyanna Dunn – 5th Grade

It felt really good to buy toys for the needy because that’s probably all they will get. If I was in the place of one of these kids, you would see it differently. – Kasey Glover – 5th Grade

I feel happy for buying items for people who are not having a happy Christmas. Now they may have Merry Christmas because of us. – Sam Dillard – 5th Grade

Today I felt pretty good about buying toys for needy kids. When you buy things for others to have then you feel very good inside. – Jessica Celedon – 5th Grade

Helping the needy made me get an idea – I should do this more often and go around giving things to kids who don’t get Christmas. I always feel like I am doing the right thing by giving things of mine and some new stuff to the needy. – Charity Massey – 5th Grade

It was fun buying gifts for children who can’t afford to buy gifts for Christmas because people who can’t buy gifts will be so happy when they see the gifts we got for them! Some people don’t care about presents. People know Christmas isn’t just for giving. It’s for celebrating Jesus’ birthday and spending time with your family. – Dakota Marett – 4th Grade

It says in the Bible that if you give then you will receive. And plus it is almost Christmas. So if you give something to somebody in need, you will receive something for God has commanded us to do. But when I give something to somebody that really wants what I have I will give to them and it makes me feel great. – Jamal Joyce – 4th Grade

It was a great example for us to buy stuff for the kids who don’t have presents for giving and sharing. I wanted them to have a very great Christmas and a Happy New Year. – Manuel Martinez

I love buying presents for needy people. It makes me happy just thinking aobut what their faces will be like when they open it! – Samantha Sanders – 4th Grade

It felt good knowing that a kid would get something for Christmas when they never had presents. It also felt good knowing that you were helping someone out just by buying toys. – Mackenzie Criswell – 4th Grade

This experience made me feel great because I know that I’m helping people in need. The children that we are helping are probably so thankful because a lot of people don’t do what we just did today. – Kaitlyn VanWagner – 4th Grade

It felt really good to give to families who can’t buy toys this holiday. I’m happy that kids will be smiling this holiday from the gifts we bought. - Travis Przyborski – 4th Grade

When we were shopping, a lady asked if we know where a certain toy was and we found it for the lady. She gave us $10.00. It made me feel really good inside because the kids we were buying for got more presents! – Noah Ortiz – 4th Grade

This experience has been wonderful. Giving to others is what I love! It makes me feel warm inside when I do a good deed. – Paige Massey – 4th Grade

It feels good not just to buy something for myself but a needy family. The best thing is that we got presents for them and they probably would not get many. – Sydnee Smith – 4th Grade

This experience has taught me that if you do good things you get good things in return. Like when my group helped a woman find a transformer, she gave us ten dollars. So when she did, I realized that you should help people every chance you get. – Trey Summers – 4 Grade

When I buy stuff for needy families, I feel really happy. I also like when I help people so they can find or do what they need to and they might just help you back. – Matthew Mendoza – 4th Grade

This trip was inspiring because I got to help people in need. The fact that I can be able to go to WalMart and get presents I could always have but it means a bunch to someone else and all we had to do is give $5.00 to make someone’s Christmas wonderful. – Lindsey Moore – 4th Grade

This made me feel stupendous! When you buy their gifts you get all warm and fuzzy inside. The only thing that could make it better is seeing them open it Christmas morning! – Montana Delp – 4th Grade

It reminded me that some people are poor and don’t have enough money to buy gifts and less fortunate that others. It was nice to shop for them. I hope they like what we got! – Jada Tullos – 4th Grade
