LJH Student Returns from Inspiring Leadership Program
Submitted by Jennifer Dunson, Livingston Junior High School

Livingston Junior High School - Steve Goin, a 7th grade student at LJH, recently returned from Washington D.C. where he attended a People to People World Leadership Forum.  Steve, along with fellow delegates from around the world, learned about leadership and how great leaders throughout history have handled world events.  Various hands-on activities, professional speakers, workshops, and visits to significant memorials, museums, and monuments gave him a new perspective on the importance and essential need for informed, passionate world leaders.

“I had a great time in Washington D.C.!  I really enjoyed visiting the Washington Monument and the JFK Eternal Flame.  Even though we did many fun things, I also learned valuable leadership skills that will benefit me in the future,” says Goin.

People to People World Leadership Forums offer students a unique blend of specialized educational, leadership, and cultural exposure through a variety of programs as well as an itinerary filled with highlights of the hosting community.  While in Washington D.C., Steve says he formed many lasting friendships with other Student Leaders from around the world.  He was honored to have been nominated by Livingston Junior High to attend program and hopes he can use what he learned to benefit his school and his community.

2nd Annual LJH Kid Walk for Relay for Life
Submitted by Lacy Orsak, LJH--Class Act Relay Team, Livingston Junior High School

Livingston Junior High School - On Friday, April 11th, Livingston Junior High held their 2nd Annual Relay for Life Kid Walk Fundraiser.  Students at LJH got to walk around the campus during an entire class period to raise money for the American Cancer Society and remember loved ones who have or have had cancer.  Mrs. Beth Baker's 7th grade science classes learned exactly what Relay for Life is all about and what all the money goes toward.  Students were able to share their stories.  Afterwards, they came up with great ideas for the walk, including making signs to hang on their back to commemorate their friends and/or loved ones who have battled cancer.  Also, they made a banner to walk behind showing their support!  Students really were able to experience what the actual Relay for Life is like!
