Face Painting at Pine Ridge
Submitted by Karen Sanders, Pine Ridge Elementary

Pine Ridge Elementary - The students at Pine Ridge Elementary had a bouncing good time on a recent Friday.  They participated in a relay, prize drawings and face painting.  Some students’ names were drawn to face paint a teacher.  There were many creative “FACES” painted by the students.  Some teachers agreed to wear their ”Creative Faces” all day to help motivate the students to “Hang 10” during the TAKS test!!

I'm Molting! I'm Molting!
Submitted by Hattie Criswell, Pine Ridge Elementary

Pine Ridge Elementary - Recently, students in Mrs. Criswell’s science class saw the results of a crayfish molting.  The students have been studying about crayfish and the process of molting.  It was amazing to see the exoskeleton the crawfish outgrew laying in the basin beside the crayfish.  Students marveled at how detailed the exoskeleton was in comparison to the actual crayfish!

Science Field Day at LIS
Submitted by Michelle Casas, Livingston Intermediate School

Livingston Intermediate School - Fifth grade science students at Livingston Intermediate School participated in the first of two Science Days recently. The 5th graders are preparing for their Science TAKS test on May 1st. LIS 5th grade students are ready to “Team Up on TAKS”.

We would like to say a huge thank you to the LHS National Honor Society students: Jessica Casas, Pedro Chavarria, Drew Colvin, Jessica Dominguez, Nimi Goin, Kasey Nielsen, Jenny Parmelly, Katy Richardson, Jessica Rossow, and Chelsea Scoggin for all your help.

An Honorable Visitor
Submitted by Kim Munson, Timber Creek Elementary

Timber Creek Elementary- Private Tony Henson visited with TCE 2nd graders recently. Tony is the brother and cousin of two 2nd grade students. Recently Tony graduated from boot camp at Camp Pendleton, CA. The students were excited to get to talk to a true hero. This visit reminded us all about giving to the F.A.I.T.H. Military Support program.

A Growing Bean
Submitted by Second Grade Teachers, Timber Creek Elementary

Timber Creek Elementary- Second graders at Timber Creek have been studying about plants. This week the students planted a bean to see the life cycle of a plant right before their very eyes. The students are eager to watch their bean sprout and grow. Each day the students observe their bean to record changes in their "My Growing Bean" journal. Some students have predicted that their bean will resemble Jack's Beanstalk, while others think that there will be no change in their bean for the duration of the experiment.

Great Behavior in the Classroom - April 30, 2008

Pine Ridge Elementary
Abigail Gennuso is a Star Student because she is always willing to learn new information.  If she does not understand, she will ask!  Way to go Abigail! -
Third Grade, Margie Nelson

Pine Ridge Elementary
Emily Vazquez is a third grade star.  She always has a positive attitude and gives her best on every assignment.  Way to go, Emily! - Language Arts, Pre-K, Susan Staples

Timber Creek Elementary
On Tues., April 1, Ross Blackmon and my teaching partner, Mrs. Janice Bryan, pulled an April Fool's joke that I will always remember.  Ross pretended to have a broken collarbone, wearing a sling and acting like it really hurt. I chastised several students for "bumping" into him.  Finally, after lunch they couldn't hold it in any longer.  Ross flung the sling off his arm as he was going through the gate yelling "April Fool's!  The joke really was on me. - Language Arts, Third Grade, Sharon Anderson

Livingston Junior High
Guillermo Arreola is an excellent student. He has a perfect average but always wants to know what he needs to do to improve his scores.  He lives to learn.  He keeps me on my toes. If something does not seem right, then he will ask how it is true. He earns the right to be a Star Student because he never makes you feel inferior.  He is very gracious and courteous. – Mathematics, Seventh Grade, Wanda Edwards
