Why we Lion Report?
The Livingston Independent School District is yours. It belongs to the students, the parents, and the community. The Lion Report is our way of reaching our many members through positive communication and ideas to make life better for our local young people. In Livingston, our greatest strength is our community, and we want everyone to be able to share in the power of education and the local schools. Enjoy this daily gift to you and the good news about our local young people.

Eggcited!
Submitted by Sue Ann McQueen, Pine Ridge Elementary
Pine Ridge Elementary - The incubation process has begun for First Graders at PRE studying the life cycle of chickens.  The anticipation of waiting approximately 21 days for the process has all the first graders extremely curious and anxious to see what will develop.

Now is the time for LHS students to sign up for AP tests!
Submitted by Deana Evans, Livingston High School

Livingston High School - Students that have taken Advanced Placement classes at Livingston High School this year are strongly encouraged to take the upcoming AP Exams in hopes of earning college credit in those classes.  LISD and the Texas Education Agency have joined together to pay a large part of the original $84 cost of the exams, leaving the student with only a $27 per exam fee or $6 per exam fee for students that qualify for free or reduced lunch

Tuesday, April 8th is the deadline to turn in the “Intent to Test” form to Mrs. Deana Evans, AP Coordinator at LHS.  At least one half of the test fee is due on or before April 8 (along with the form signed by the parent or guardian).

"Back To Basics" Boot Camp
Submitted by: Morgan, Baker, Bolton, 6th Grade Math, Livingston Junior High School

Livingston Junior High - The 6th Grade Math Department at Livingston Junior High is utilizing a cooperative learning approach for reviewing the grade level TEKS.  The students are assigned to a group with students from the other classes to rotate through three separate skill lessons.  After each 3 day rotation, the students are assessed on the skills they learned.  So far, we have completed three rotations and are beginning the fourth.  Students are already showing great progress just by hearing the information from a different teacher.  Also, the change of scenery never hurts when trying to keep kids energized.  Through a collaborative effort between the 6th grade teachers, our students are benefiting from a wealth of knowledge representing a quarter century of experience.  There is no doubt that our students will be fully prepared on the day of the math TAKS.

Great Behavior in the Classroom - April 3, 2008

Livingston High School
Josh Sanders has been an outstanding office aide this year. He helps us in the counselors' office first and second periods running errands, showing new students around with a friendly smile, and carrying anything heavy with his powerlifting skills! We are so appreciative of Josh's good attitude, willingness to work and his cooperative nature. Thank you Josh! We will miss you when you graduate.
