First Graders Have Special Visitors
Submitted by Kristy Long, Timber Creek Elementary
Mrs. Ruth Dominy brought three of her special friends to visit the first graders. We were so excited to meet Mr. and Mrs. Durham and Henry. Mrs. Durham is blind, and Henry is her guide dog. Mr. and Mrs. Durham gave us some very interesting information about what it is like for Mrs. Durham to be blind. They showed us several tools she uses in her everyday life. The Durhams even gave every student an alphabet braille card. We also learned about Henry and how he helps Mrs. Durham. We felt so lucky to have such special visitors!

Understanding PSAT Results Orientation
Submitted by Kari McKissick. LHS Counseling Department
Monday, December 17th the Counselors will be distributing the results of the PSAT/NMSQT. They will conduct a brief Orientation for parents and students on how to read the score sheet and interpret the results. They will also explain how these scores indicate the ranges you can expect to see on the student's SAT. The result sheet shows which areas your student needs to improve before they take the actual SAT test. Juniors should register soon to take the SAT this spring. If the parent and/or student can't attend the Monday night meeting, the student will be given their results after the holiday.
