The Quest for the "Perfect Day"
Submitted by Randy Rowe, LISD Athletics Department

The Livingston High School Football team is busy during their Athletics classes this winter working on team-building, leadership, and the quest for completing the "perfect day" on their obstacle course. On a muddy and rainy Wednesday morning, the Lions reached that goal through teamwork and supporting their fellow athletes. Check out the Photo Gallery for all the action!

FAFSA Assistance Meeting - Jan. 22, 2008
Submitted by Sandy Gilbert, Livingston High School
If you have a child who will be attending college or a vocational school after graduation and you have need of financial aid, it is important that you complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). If you would like help completing your FAFSA, I have arranged for a financial aid advisor, Rebecca Daughtry, from Angelina College to be at Livingston High School on January 22, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the high school library.
She will take appointments every 15 minutes during this time, (except from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m.) to give individual assistance to parents and/or students in completing their FAFSA. To schedule an appointment, contact Sandra Gilbert, LHS senior counselor, at 936-328-2250 and I will schedule a time for you to meet individually with Ms. Daughtry.
Please bring any of the following documents that apply to your situation:
*2007 tax information
*W-2 Form
*Social Security Statement
*State/Federal Benefits Statement
*Parent Social Security Number
*E-mail address
Ms. Daughtry is prepared to assist parents who need a Spanish-speaking interpreter if needed. Please let me know if you need this service when you call to schedule your appointment. Your child does not have to be planning to attend Angelina College for you to take advantage of her assistance. |

Pine Ridge Announces Attendance Winners
Submitted by Marie Holder, Pine Ridge Elementary
Pine Ridge staff members, along with their students and parents, are hard at work to promote outstanding attendance! Each teacher has a plan for the classroom that encourages attendance and the teachers in each grade level are working together to promote outstanding attendance for their entire group. Also, all students at Pine Ridge who have perfect attendance for each six weeks have their name put into a drawing for special prizes to be awarded during lunch. Click Here for Winners and Pictures!
December Pine Ridge PAL Winners
Submitted by Marie Holder, Pine Ridge Elementary
Pine Ridge Elementary School is proud to announce our PAL winners for December. These students were chosen to be recipients of the “Principals’ Award for Leadership”, a monthly recognition based on leadership skills, citizenship, manners, kindness, responsibility, and making good choices. Kindergarten PALS spent an afternoon with the principal and assistant principal enjoying a special book, along with a snack. First through third grade PALS were treated to lunch with Dr. Sewell and Mrs. Holder. What a treat for the principals to spend time with students who demonstrate good decision making! It’s DNA … That’s Why I‘m This Way?
Submitted by Steve Salley, Livingston Junior High
In Mrs. James’s 7th grade Science classes, students have been studying genetics, heredity and the importance of DNA. As part of this lesson, each student created a model of a person displaying traits prominent within their families. Mrs. James claims the models as her grandchildren while students say they have built their own version of a lil’ Mini-Me.
