An Incredible Journey
Submitted by Frances Harrell, Timber Creek Elementary
Timber Creek Elementary - After studying and working through a time line on the journey of Meriwether Lewis and William Clark through the Louisiana Territory, the students in Mrs. Harrell's social studies class at Timber Creek Elementary wrote their own journal entry. The students picked a date from May 14, 1804 to Sept. 23, 1806 and wrote a journal entry about the weather and their adventure during that one day. All the entries were placed in a class journal and each child received a copy so they could read about each others adventures. |

In the first section, "Swimming & Sun Safety", the girls learned five swimming strokes: the crawl, backstroke, breastroke, sidestroke, and the butterfly. They also learned the corresponding kick for each stroke. They also watched “The Dark Side of the Sun” video and discussed the benefits and hazards of the sun. |

They also received a first place trophy in Tug-o-war, their second of the year, after defeating seven other teams in the competition. The students brought home a second place trophy in Ranger Two Inner-tube Relay in which students must paddle an inner-tube across a pool and back.
