Ahoy!
Submitted by Gayle Colburn and Kelly Taylor, Timber Creek Elementary
Last week our twins brought someone very special to school with them. Their dad is a ship's captain and he came to tell their classmates about his job. It was very interesting to see pictures of his ship, the ports where he has docked, and to learn about such a cool job. We will be using this information throughout the year to learn more about our world, geography, and map skills. Thanks Max and Matt for sharing with us.

LJH Encore Players present "Teacher, I Hear You"
Submitted by Marion LeBlanc, Livingston Junior High
The Livingston Junior High Encore Players will present the play Teacher, I Hear You on Thursday, November 15, 2007, in the LJH black box theatre at 6:30 P.M. Admission is $3.00 for adults and $1.00 for students. If you bring a can of soup to help with our "Soup Drive" for Livingston Manna Fest, you will get $1.00 off your admission cost.
Teacher, I Hear You is a play written for teachers and students of any age. If you have ever sat in a classroom as a student or stood in front of a group of any kind to give a speech or demonstration, then you will enjoy this short play. The play has humorous moments pointing out all the things that can and do go wrong in classrooms. It also has several poignant scenes reminding the audience what it is like to be a dedicated educator. This play is dedicated to all the employees of Livingston ISD. We hope to see you there! |

Pizza Pros From LHS
Submitted by Janie Prather, Livingston High School
Last month students from Mrs. Prather class traveled to Kingwood Pizza Hut to learn about the restaurant business, the history of Pizza Hut, and the art of pizza making. After a tour of the restaurant each student made their own pizza and bread sticks. We then walked around the corner to one of Kingwood's parks and had a pizza picnic, enjoyed the playground and the beautiful weather. Thank you Kingwood Pizza Hut!

The lady lions were unable to take 1st, 2nd or 3rd place after losing their first match to the Hunstville Hornets. They were determined to leave the tournament with the consolation trophy. They were matched up against the two teams that they had prevailed against during district play. Once again, they beat the teams from Willis to bring home their prize.
WHITE TEAM
The Lady Lions played outstanding on Saturday, first game we played Montgomery. 25 to 15, second game 18 to 25, and third game 15 to 11. This put us on the winning side of the bracket. Next game we played Brabham, first game 25 to 16 then 25 to 18. Now it was time to play for the championship. During the district season Waller beat us but we put up a good fight, now it was time to show them who the real winners are. We DEFEATED them in three, first game 25 to 16, second game they beat us 19 to 25. Crunch time, the girls really wanted to win. Morgan Hugo, Megan Vest Skyler Rue Keashea Wilson, D'Andrea Youngblood, and Sammantha Burnette put their heads together and they did a wonderful job covering the court, pass set hit came right on time. Kortni Weigreffe entered the game with some great serves Keanna Robinson, Tori Lyons, Brittany Crow, and Jacqulyn King covered the court very well this led us to Victory 15 to 11 WAY to GO girls. The Lady Lions put a good ending to the volleyball season by fighting hard in all three matches and bringing home a third place trophy in the district tournament. The top servers for the tournament were Shadow White and Randee Crawford. The top hustlers were Emily Moore and Tatyana Nickson. The girls improved in skills, mental toughness and teamwork as the season progressed. I am very pleased with how the season went and could not be more pleased with how the girls stepped up and worked together.

LISD Star Students
Great Behavior in the Classroom - November 6, 2007
Livingston High School
Missy Newman is one of the outstanding students in my class. She always wears a smile and never gives up. Last month Missy began working on a new computer proram called Tracker One. This extraordinary program enables Missy move the mouse on the screen through head movements. She wears a reflective dot on her glasses and moves her head to move the cursor to the correct position on the screen. She is able to independently write stories, answer questions, do sequencing activities and much more. Mrs. Cain and Missy work together everyday on this cool program. Missy says, "I like it very much. Thank you Mrs. Theresa for helping me get Tracker One." - Language Arts, Janie Prather
Livingston High School
I would like to recognize Katherine Poage, Edwards Staires, and Kevin Phillips
for being star students because they always give 110% effort in their work and it makes off greatly! They make excellent grades while doing top quality work. Each of the students exemplify good citizenship as well as good work habits.
