First Grade Pumpkin Fun at PRE
Submitted by Sue Ann McQueen, Pine Ridge Elementary
We measured it. We weighed it. We decorated it. We carved it. We smelled it - Ummmm! We stuck our hands inside it - Oooooh! We estimated, grouped, counted, opened and explored the inside of, cooked, and ate the seeds. We even wrote and dreamed of pumpkin pie. What more can you ask of a pumpkin?

Pumpkin Estimation
Submitted by Robbie Vinson and Paula Faith, Timber Creek Elementary
Last week the second grade classes at Timber Creek Elementary did an estimation experiment using pumpkins. They had to estimate the weight, height, circumference, number of "seams", and number of seeds inside the pumpkin. After the estimations were complete the students used team work to remove the pumpkin seeds and design a face for the pumpkin. Mrs. Faith even carved her very first pumpkin.
