LISD Honors Hal and Peggy Haley
Submitted by Gregg Faith, Livingston ISD

During the September meeting of the Livingston ISD Board of Trustees, the board voted to officially name the section of the Lion Stadium press box used for broadcasting the Hal and Peggy Haley Box.   Livingston ISD is honoring Mr. And Mrs. Haley for the over 50 years of dedication to broadcasting and supporting LISD sports and programs. From the stations beginnings in 1957, Hal and Peggy Haley broadcast football games and other sporting events and were strong advocates for the success of our local students. Their legacy continues and the work of Radio Station KETX continues to broadcast and support the hard work of our kids.

At halftime of Friday night’s football game between the Livingston Lions and the Waller Bulldogs, we will officially unveil a plaque honoring these two broadcasters and forever remembering them in the Lion Stadium press box.

LHS Finishes the Football Season....Together!
Submitted by Gregg Faith, Livingston ISD

Coach Rowe's theme for the 2007/2008 Athletics program has been "It's About Us...Together" and Friday night's game will end a regular season of great work from all of the programs that work to make Friday nights memorable.

Come out Friday night to watch the football team take on Waller, the band, the cheerleaders, the drill team, JROTC, choir, and all of our students working together to entertain and bring our community alive.

Montgomery Football Games
Lion Notes - Submitted by LISD Athletics

Freshman:
The freshman Green and White teams traveled to Montgomery this past Thursday to take on the Bears.  The White team started the evening with an opening drive touchdown.  Nick Jesse-Jenkins found the end zone half through the first quarter.  The White defense held the Bears to less than 100 yards of offense.  Some unfortunate plays led to a few Bear scores.  However, the White team looked very good in the 22-6 loss.  The Green team lost 42-0.

Junior Varsity:           The Junior Varsity welcomed the visiting Bears to “The Jungle” on Thursday night.  The Lions played through several injuries and almost pulled out the win.  The JV fell to the Bears 21-14.

Varsity:                       Playoffs?  PlayOFFS?  PLAYOFFS!!  The Mighty Lions roared into Montgomery Friday night and left having secured a spot in the Texas State 4-A Playoffs.  The Lions punched the Bears in the mouth early going to the locker room with a 17-0 lead.  QB Dustin Harris showcased the explosive Lion offense early.  The Bears tried to make the game interesting in the second half.  The Lion defense, lead by LB Isaac Crawford and newcomer DT Ricky Wagner, stifled a very potent Bear offense.  Montgomery tried to onside kick several times and LB Ravion Bogan made them pay as he took one kick to the house for a 50 yard score.  The Lions rolled up 315 yards of offense.  QB Dustin Harris and RB Stacy Randolph found the end zone twice each.  K Drew Nelson connected on a 37 yard field goal and was 5 for 5 on PAT’s.  The Lions next face the Waller Bulldogs at “The Jungle” Friday night in the final district match.  Second place in district 18-4A is on the line.
