2nd Graders Celebrate Red Ribbon Week
Submitted by Kim Munson, Timber Creek Elementary, November 6, 2008
TCE - During Red Ribbon Week the 2nd graders at TCE learned about the parts of their body that are hurt by alcohol and tobacco, feeling good about themselves, positive and negative peer pressure, emotions, and things to do when they feel sad. The students also talked about what makes them special. The students thought of things to do when they feel sad so they can feel good about themselves. Many students agreed that bike riding and playing in their rooms were good things to do to help them cope with their sad feelings.
The students also had a great time participating in “Putting a lid on Drugs” with their crazy hats, “Friends don’t let Friends do Drugs” by dressing like their friends, and of course, “Sock out Drugs” with our annual sock hop.
