Mentor Breakfast Launches Program at TCE
Submitted by Everlou Marsh, Timber Creek Elementary

Timber Creek Elementary - The Timber Creek Elementary School Mentor Program kicked off Friday, October 5, 2007 with a great turnout for breakfast.  New and previous mentors were welcomed by Everlou Marsh, program coordinator, along with Valarie Riley and Kay Waldrep, of the TCE Counseling Office.  The District Mentoring Guidelines were reviewed and mentors were given opportunities to share some experiences and questions.  The Timber Creek Elementary staff greatly appreciate the time our community volunteers unselfishly give to enrich the lives of our students.

Willis Football Recap
Submitted by Deborah Bartlett, LISD Communications

Freshman: The Freshman Green and White teams traveled to Willis this past Thursday and took on the Wildcats. The White team gave up two early scores. They pitched a second half shut out in a 12-0 loss. The Green team found the end zone twice on runs by QB Blake Burman and RB Earnest White. The green ultimately lost 24-14.

Junior Varsity: The JV hosted the Willis Wildcats at home Thursday night and sent them to the house with a loss. RB Kieron Johnson and RB Quintin Jackson hit pay dirt on the ground. WR Devion Harris added a two point conversion catch. The JV left "The Jungle" with a 14-6 victory.

Varsity: Homecoming night in Willis, Tx did not end so well for the Wildcats. The loudest roar from the crowd came after the Homecoming Coronation. Every other highlight of the night belonged to the visiting Livingston Lions. The 52-7 rout started early in the first quarter when the Lions punched the end zone ticket after a fumble by the ‘Cats. The Lions went into half time with a 31-7 lead and never looked back. RB Daniel Williams went for 110 yards on 9 carries with one touchdown. QB Josh Henderson called his own name twice. QB Dustin Harris also romped into the end zone. RB Stacey Randolph contributed two scores for the Lions. LB Isaac Crawford once again proved his defensive worth by recording 11 tackles and one interception to pace the defense. DE Carlos Moreno caused a fumble and then fell on it in the end zone for a defensive score. So far this season, the Lion defense has been very stingy. The Lion "D" has only allowed an average of one touchdown per game. The Defense created five turnovers pushing the season turnover margin to +14. K Drew Nelson stayed perfect on the night with PAT’s and added a field goal. DE Lamar Bogany blocked a Willis punt that DB Ronald Bogany almost took to the house. Lions are 5-0 on the year and 1-0 in district. Caney Creek will be in "The Jungle" next Friday night.
