Royal Brigade is "Excellent"
Submitted by David Powell, Royal Brigade Director
The Livingston High School Royal Brigade has had a banner marching season thus far. On October 20, for the second consecutive Saturday, the LHS Royal Brigade traveled to a marching competition, and for the second time received a rating of Excellent. In the UIL ratings schedule, the best rating available is Superior, and the Royal Brigade was hoping to reach that goal and continue on to the Area competition. Livingston High School has been to that level before, and it has remained one of the goals set by the band every other year.
While still working for those high standards, the band has regularly earned ratings of Excellent. This rating is the mark of an above average program, which solidly exemplifies the standard of excellence we seek.
The Royal Brigade has experienced many changes in the past few years, and is experiencing a period of rebuilding, but the level of performance has not been neglected. Each Friday, fans are provided with an enjoyable halftime show, and the Royal Brigade always represents LHS in the best possible manner. “We will continue to provide a quality arts education to students in LISD, “ says Director David Powell, “and will also continue to strive for the highest achievements.”

Football Scores - Junior High
Submitted by Junior High Coaches, LJH
8th Grade White Team
Last Night, the Lions took on Moorehead for the second time this year, and for the second time this year, came out on top. The Lion offense scored first when Brad Lewis put the Lions on top. The Lions never looked back, as Linebacker Blake Engle returned a fumble for a touchdown to give the Lions some breathing room. Bryant McClendon added the conversion. The Lion defense completed their second shut out in a row, as the Lions came out victorious 13-0. The Lions improved to 5-1.
8th Grade Green Team
The Lions improved to 4-2 last night in Moorehead in a very exciting game. The Lion offense was on fire last night with huge contributions from several players. The defense stood strong not allowing any points and scoring six of their own, as the offense added a few points to the board as well. Lion standouts were DeVon Barnes, Cassity Land, Devante Mays, Blayne Elster, Bridge Blount, Dakerrian Wyatt, Josh Saybe. Ken Rue also made some impressive plays on kickoff and defense. The Lions improved to 4-2 on the season with the 50-0 victory over Moorehead.
7th Grade White Team
The 7th grade white team had their toughest game yet. The Lions were trailing 6-0 late in the game when Willie King scored in the 4th quarter on a 30-yard run. With the game on the line the lions punched it in for the extra point. The 7-6 victory improves the Lions record to 5-1.
7th Grade Green Team
The Lions improved to 5-1 Monday night against Moorehead. The game was a battle of defenses. The lone score came off of a fumble recovery for a touchdown by Chevoski Collins. The final score was 6-0.
Football Scores - Lions Vs. Huntsville
Submitted by LISD Athletics Program
Freshman: The White and Green teams traveled to Bowers Stadium on Thursday night and battled the Huntsville Hornets. The White team bravely fought, but ultimately lost 39-0. The Green team kept it close until a late turnover. The final was 24-8.
Junior Varsity: The JV invited the Huntsville Hornets to "The Jungle" on Thursday and showed them a preview of things to come on Friday. RB Quintin Jackson found the end zone twice and RB Keke Johnson also scored on the ground. Livingston sent the Hornets home with a 20-13 loss.
Varsity: College football stadium. Check. The opponent talks trash in the paper. Check. The Lions want respect. Check. All of the checks equal one pumped up and ready to go football team. On Friday night at Bowers Stadium in Huntsville Texas the mighty Lions showed everyone in 18-4A that they are for real. QB Dustin Harris showcased what the Lion offense is all about by generally confusing and frustrating the Huntsville Hornet defense. Harris, 5 for 8 passing for 119 yards, hooked up with RB Keaton Parker three times through the air for three beautiful scores. Harris also torched the Hornets on the ground with 104 yards on 11 carries. RB Stacey Randolph put the exclamation point on two drives while bulling his way into the end zone for two scores. The Hornets tried to make things interesting in the third quarter, but the Lion defense scraped and clawed and did what ever it took to stop Huntsville. LB Isaac Crawford and SS Daniel Williams combined for 17 tackles to lead the Lion defense. Crawford, LB Buck Bland, and DT BJ McGowen caused several Hornet fumbles with big hits. K Drew Nelson went 5 for 6 on PAT’s. The Lions are now 7-0 on the year and 3-0 in district play. The Lions next host the Brenham Cubs Friday night in "The Jungle".
