Adriana Celedon
Senior Princess
Senior Princess Adriana Celedon is the 17 year old daughter of Angel and Lulu Celedon. She is currently the student body president of the LHS Student Council and the Co-editor of the Lions Pride Yearbook. Adriana also is serving as president of the Spanish Honor Society and Quill and Scroll Honor Society. She is an active member of the Lady Lions Varsity Soccer team and the St. Joseph Catholic Church’s Youth Organization. Adriana plans on attending college and becoming an orthodontist. She would like to thank the senior class for selecting her to represent them on the homecoming court. Tonight, Adriana is being escorted by her father, Angel Celedon. |

Macie Lee Lauhoff
Senior Princess
Senior Princess Macie Lee Lauhoff is the 17 year old daughter of George Lauhoff of Katy and Marsha and Terry Jordan of Livingston. She is an active member of the Livingston Varsity Cheerleaders and FFA. Her hobbies include enjoying family and friends, hunting, fishing, and cheerleading. After high school, Macie plans to attend Tyler Junior College and study Sonography. She would like to thank her senior class and family for all their support in selecting her to represent the senior class of 2009. Tonight, Macie is being escorted by her father, George Lauhoff. |

Senior Prince
Senior Prince John Salazar is the son of Joel and Rebecca Salazar. He is happily representing the senior class of 2009. John is an active member of Central Baptist Church where he plays the drums for Sunday morning services. He is an active member of the Livingston High School Soccer team. He plans on attending college next fall. Tonight, John is being escorted by his mother, Rebecca Salazar. |

Senior Prince Jonathan Truelove is the son of B.J. and Nikki Truelove. He is happy to be representing the senior class of 2009. He is an active member of the Livingston Lions Varsity Football and Soccer teams. He is member of Central Baptist Church. Jonathan plans on attending Stephen F Austin University and majoring in Business. Tonight, Jonathan is being escorted by his mother, Nikki Truelove. |

Junior Duchess Chasity McGowen is the daughter of John Brown and April McGowen. Chasity is happy to be representing the junior class. She is on the Lions Pride newspaper staff. She has attended dance classes for more than 2 years. In her spare time, she enjoys shopping, working, and hanging out with friends. Chasity plans on attending Howard University and pursue a lifelong dream of becoming a lawyer. Tonight, Chasity is being escorted by Terry Allison. |

Sophomore Duchess Amber Wetherell is the 15 year old daughter of Chester and Christy Wetherell. She is a member of the Varsity cheerleading squad, and an active member of the Livingston FFA and LHS Publications. Amber is proud to represent the Sophomore class as their duchess. Tonight, she is being escorted by her father, Chester Wetherell. |

Sophomore Duke Tanner Burks is the 15 year old son of Terry and Sherri Burks. He has one brother, Ty Burks. Tanner is an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Livingston. He plays soccer and participates in photography. His hobbies are playing guitar, snowboarding, and hanging out with friends. His favorite period of the day is lunch. Tanner plans on attending Asbury College in Kentucky to become a youth minister. Tonight, Tanner is being escorted by his mother, Sherri Burks. |

Freshmen Duchess Cheyenne Fort is the 14 year old daughter of Jeannie Neal and Justin Fort. She is active in LHS Yearbook and a member of the JV Cheerleading Squad. Cheyenne wants to become a designer with her own clothes line when she grows up. Her hobbies are designing clothes and cheering. She plans to attend Rice University when she graduates. Tonight, Cheyenne is being escorted by her father, Justin Fort. |

Freshmen Duke Brodrick Harrell is the 15 year old son of B.C. and Jennifer Harrell. He is an active member of St. Luke Methodist Church where he plays the drums and sings in the choir. He has served as mentor and speaker for the youth in the church. His hobbies include basketball, football, playing dominoes with his dad, hanging out with friends, and spending quality time with his family. Tonight, Brodrick is being escorted by his mother, Jennifer Harrell. |
TAKS Retest Dates Announced for LHS Students

Livingston High School - TAKS retakes for seniors and for out of school students are as follows:
Oct. 21 – ELA
Oct. 22 – Math
Oct. 23 – Science
Oct. 24 – Social Studies
Students need to arrive at school before 8:00 the day of testing. Study guides are available during to school year from one of the instructional specialist.
The following website allows students to take on-line released TAKS TESTS. This is a great way to practice and study for the test because the computer gives you instant results. www.tea.state.tx.us

The Little Shop of Horrors

Livingston - Come see the outrageous musical "The Little Shop of Horrors"!!! It will be a night of fun for the whole family!!! Tickets will be available from Lisa Henderson at LHS and at Shrimpboat Manny's starting Halloween weekend! The show will be presented on November 13, 14,15,16 at 7:00 pm and November 17, 2008 at 2:00 pm. Tickets $10.00 in advance and $12.00 at the door. |

LISD - Student Handbook Addendum

Livingston - The following statements were inadvertently omitted from the LISD PK-5th and 6th -12th Grade Student Handbooks for the 2008-2009 school year:
Doctor’s Note After An absence for Illness:
When a student’s absence for personal illness is three (3) or more consecutive days, the student shall present a statement from a physician or health clinic verifying the illness or other condition in order for the student to receive an excused absence.
Attendance Notification Letters:
Letters regarding attendance are sent to parents/guardians when their child reaches three, five, and eight absences. These letters are sent regardless whether the absence is excused or unexcused.
Beginning with absence eight (8), all requests for an excused absence must be accompanied by a signed letter, note, or form from a doctor, dentist, or other licensed medical practitioner within three (3) days of the student’s return to school. The absence will be considered unexcused without the documentation.
The following statements were inadvertently omitted from the LISD PK-5th Grade Student Handbook for the 2008-2009 school year:
Perfect Attendance Awards:
Perfect Attendance awards will be based on the student attending the full school day. In order to receive a perfect attendance award, a student may not have more than five (5) unexcused tardies or early checkouts. All doctor’s notes are excused.
Tardies or Early Checkouts:
If a student has eight (8) late tardies or early checkouts, he/she will be assigned to Saturday school. A late tardy is an arrival time after 8:15 am. A doctor’s note is excused and the student will not be required to make up that time.

I am having a difficult time this year picking one student for star student because I have so many outstanding students. I have been bragging on my first period class to all my colleagues. They are the "Dream" class. They are very well-behaved, very intelligent, and have outstanding work ethics. I cannot express enough have much I enjoy this class. I want to put their names in print I want their parents to know how wonderful I think they are.
