No more "I can'ts" in Mrs. Holliman's room!
Submitted by Mitzi Holliman, Timber Creek Elementary

Students in Mrs. Holliman's kindergarten class are no longer allowed to say the word "can't" in her class. They read the book entitled "The Little Engine That Could" and talked about how important it is to have a positive attitude. Anyone who is caught saying that ugly "c" word has to repeat "I think I can!" five times to get back into a "positive" frame of mind.

Watermelon Estimation
Submitted by Robbie Vinson, Timber Creek Elementary

Timber Creek Elementary Second Grade students got the opportunity to use their estimation skills in a fun watermelon activity. They had to estimate how long and how big around the watermelon was with a piece of string. They then checked their estimations by deciding if their string was too long, too short, or just right. They then ate the watermelon and had the opportunity to see how far they could spit their seeds.
