Cross Country Meet Cancelled for Saturday, Sept.13

The Livingston Lions Cross Country team was scheduled to participate in the Lloyd Weatherspoon Memorial Cross Country Meet on Sat., Sept. 13th   in Jasper.  Due to the uncertainty surrounding Hurricane Ike, the meet has been cancelled.


Livingston ISD announces New Aspiring Leadership Academy

If you are a Livingston ISD Assistant Principal, Instructional Specialist, or a classroom teacher who aspires to become a leader in the field of education, we invite you to attend the Livingston ISD Aspiring Leadership Academy.  Throughout the 2008/2009 school year, the ALA will meet monthly to learn about topics involved in educational leadership, hear from guest speakers, and fellowship with other aspiring leaders. 

This opportunity is geared to help those interested in pursuing this career pathway, and to help our district to grow leadership from within our own local community.  Livingston ISD is committed to identifying future leaders and retaining quality employees, and through programs like the ALA, we can develop and strengthen current programs while planning for future needs.

Participants in the LISD Aspiring Leadership Academy will attend a 2-hour session each month and all sessions will be held in the Livingston Intermediate School Library.  The first session will be held on Wednesday, September 24, and will include a presentation on Communication and Public Relations lead by LISD Director of Communications, Gregg Faith. All sessions will be from 4:00 p.m. through 6:00 p.m.   The following is a complete list of the sessions for 2008/2009:

Session 2/October 29: Site-Based Decision-Making Teams and the Improvement Planning Process – Diana Kelm, Deputy Superintendent
Session 3/November 19: Prioritizing Multiple Tasks/Issues and Instructional Leadership – Dr. Darrell Myers, LISD Superintendent
Session 4/December 17: Instructional Leadership – Janan Moore, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction
Session 5/January 28: Budget 101 – Deborah Walker, Director of Business and Finance
Session 6/February 25: Human Resources – Nikki Wilson, Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources
Session 7/March 25: Developing a Professional Network & Advocating for Leadership Growth – Nikki Wilson, Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources
Session 8/May 6: Round Table on Various Topics, LISD Principals

2009 Lion's Roar Yearbooks On Sale

The 2009 Lion's Roar yearbook will be on sale in the cafeteria on Tuesday and Thursday, September 9 & 11 for $60. Those wishing to reserve a copy at that price may pay a deposit of $20 and complete payment by December 19. All checks should be made payable to LHS Publications. Any books purchased after September 12 will increase in price to $80. Go to the LHS Publications link on the school website to print an order blank.


Underclassmen School Portrait Re-Takes

Underclassmen school portraits will be re-taken on Thursday, October 30 from the beginning of school until lunch in the auditorium for those students who were absent or have moved in since the September 4th portraits were taken. Any students who wish to buy portrait packages must have payment with them that day.See the LHS Publications link on the school website for a copy of the price list for portraits.
