Students Taking Innovative Computer Maintenance Class
Submitted by Judy Powell,Livingston High School, September 9, 2008
Livingston HS - Students are taking a new course offered at LHS, “Introduction to Computer Maintenance.” They started class this year with an introduction to system components, computer systems, and computer networks. At the conclusion of the class, students will have the opportunity to take exams to obtain their Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3). IC3 is a world-wide training and certification program which shows capability of using a broad range of computer technology – from basic hardware and software – to operating systems, applications, and the Internet.
LHS has made a commitment to offer our students the opportunity to earn industry certifications through many new and different courses. Certifications can help students differentiate themselves in today's competitive job market, broaden their employment opportunities by showcasing their advanced skills, and result in higher earning potential. Certification can also lead to increased job satisfaction. Research indicates that certified individuals have increased competence, productivity, and credibility with their employers, co-workers, and clients.

Lady Lion Volleyball
Monday, September 8, 2008
Opponent: Keefer Crossing
8th Grade Green Team:
25-13, 25-6
The 8th grade green team collected their second win during their first home game. Their strong serves were rarely returned by their opponent which gave them a large lead during the matches. All the girls worked hard to put together some pass-set-hits. The girls have already shown improvement since the last game.
8th Grade White Team:
18-25, 25-17, 25-19
The white team started out kind of slow. The nerves settled and allowed them to win game two. Shea Tomlinson had some very hard serves and powerful hits. Destiny Mathews joined in with some good serves which gave them the chance to regain and win. During the last game Lauren Sitton had good sets and Caitlin McKnight joined in with some powerful spikes, which led to victory.
7th Grade Green Team:
25-16, 25-13
Jordan Noble served for seven straight points in the first game and Ashley Walton served for 6 straight points in the second. Each girl stepped up their serves and passing game and brought home a victory for the lady lions.
7th Grade White Team:
20-25, 25-18, 15-12
They worked hard all night and came out victorious over Keefer Crossing. In the first game they came up a little short, losing by 5 points. In games 2 and 3, Shelby Staples, Treazure Lindsey, and Natalie Sebaugh stepped up and served the team into their first victory.
*The lady lions play their 3rd game at Hardin, Monday, September 15th.
