"Current research indicates that the fine arts, especially music, influences the brain and stimulates spatial intelligence. Students who participate in an arts program experience important learning transfers in academic areas." - Dr. Mike Moses, former Texas Commissioner of Education

The Instrumental Music Department of Livingston ISD is committed to the promotion of the Arts in Education through band performance. We are determined to increase the awareness of the community and school in regard to music and its relationship to academic achievement. We strive to enhance the quality of life for our students through performance in concerts and other musical programs. Our focus includes all forms of music involving instruments and is not limited to one area of band performance.

Our Program
The Livingston High School Band program is a showcase of musical talent and diversity. The Royal Brigade Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Concert Band and LHS Jazz Ensemble are various forums for musical performance and provide students with a wide range of group band activities to choose from. Individually, students are encouraged to audition for several different honor organizations, including the South East Texas Honor Band, and the Texas Music Educators Association All Region Band. In addition, students may participate in UIL competitions as a group or in the regional Solo and Ensemble competition. Our goal is to provide each student with the opportunity for success as a musician and as a member of the community.

Junior High Band
The Livingston Junior High School Band program is committed to providing students with a wide variety of musical experiences, designed to prepare students for high school as well as enrich the time the students spend at the junior high school. Its goal is to teach students to be highly competent musicians, accomplished performers, sensitive artists, and strong musical leaders who clearly understand the value and role of music as part of our cultural heritage and welfare and also as part of the very essence of human existence.
