LJH - 2011-2012 Flexible School Year Description |
The 2011-12 LISD calendar will reduce the number of instructional days to 170 for most LISD students. For students that meet the district requirements, their school year will end on May 24, 2012. Students who DO NOT meet the district requirements will continue to attend classes through June 8, 2012. The Flex schedule will begin on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 and end on Friday, June 8, 2012 and serve as targeted instruction days for students who need additional support. The Flex calendar offers concrete incentives for students to pass their state exams, do well in their academic classes, and attend school regularly throughout the year. Flex Scheduling Rules for Livingston Junior High · Students having more than 7 absences for the school year will be required to be in attendance during the flexible calendar days.
· Students receiving a final grade in a core subject that is below a 75 for the year will be required to be in attendance during the flexible calendar days. · Students not passing all STAAR (the new TAKS) assessments will be required to be in attendance during the flexible calendar days. The district will determine the minimum passing score for the 2011-12 school year. Additional Information: Students who have met all of the academic requirements, but have exceeded attendance requirements will be placed into an enrichment class during the flexible calendar days. These students will be required to be in attendance all of the flexible calendar days regardless of their number of absences, or the amount of make-up time that has been completed. Completing make-up hours does not exempt a student from attending the flex days. In order to be considered for promotion, a student must complete make up hours AND the flex days. During the flexible calendar days, LISD will operate a 6 hour instructional day for students.
