1. What are the certification requirements for a teacher at Livingston ISD?
Texas Teaching certification requirements may be found online at www.sbec.state.tx.us under “How to Become a Teacher in Texas”…this site also has names and contact information regarding approved Alternative Certification Programs.

2. How often are employees paid at Livingston ISD?
In general, employees are paid monthly over a 12-month period, and pay dates for full-time employees are on the 15th of each month. New teachers starting at the beginning of school have the option of taking the 13-month-pay option and would receive their first paycheck on August 15.

3. How are references completed?
It is the applicants’ responsibility to ensure the references on the application include accurate information and should include administrators / supervisors for whom you have worked and who have had responsibility for observing and evaluating the quality of your work. The information on your application will be forwarded to the appropriate supervisor upon receipt of an application / resume.
If an interview is given and the district is interested in employing the applicant, references listed (as well as others possibly not listed) will be contacted by the hiring supervisor to determine / verify the applicant’s experiences related to the position.

4. Do transcripts have to be official and sealed?
If recommended for a contract, the district will require an official college / university transcript before presenting the professional applicant to the Board.

5. I’ve completed my application and submitted it to the Human Resources office. What is the next step?
Your file is reviewed by the HR Director, a criminal background check is completed, and a copy of your information forwarded to the appropriate supervisor. Based upon the district’s needs, you may be invited to an interview. 6. May I contact supervisors / Principals directly to inquire about vacancies?
You should not contact supervisors / campus administration to schedule interviews. Supervisors will receive your information and make appropriate decisions regarding interviews. Questions regarding receipt of applicant information may be forwarded to the HR Director at 936-328-2104.

7. How long will my application remain active?
Applications remain active for a year from date of receipt.
