Livingston ISD families,
Thank you for your concern and the care you show our students and staff as we monitor the rapidly evolving circumstances surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Based on the current health concerns, we have made the decision today to cancel classes next week (March 16-20) for our students. District employees will be contacted and given a work schedule by their supervisor for when to report to work.
Starting Monday, March 16, all extracurricular activities are postponed which includes athletics, fine arts, clubs, and other student activities.
Free meals will be offered to all students 18 years old and under on Monday, March 16 - Friday, March 20.
Breakfast may be picked up at Cedar Grove Elementary 7:00 am - 8:00 am and lunch 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. Please use the drop-off/pick-up lane in front of the school.
The meals will be brought out, you will not need to get out of your vehicle. Student(s) must be present to receive a meal.
We are taking these steps out of an abundance of caution. Public health officials have not made school closings a requirement for public institutions. However, given all that we know and what we can anticipate based on information from local, state and national agencies, including Texas Department of State Health Services, Texas Education Agency and the Center for Disease Control, we believe this is the most appropriate course of action at this time.
We will continue to assess the situation and will be sharing instructional plans as well as additional resources available to families. We will communicate any updates on the Livingston ISD website, official district social media and through our parent notification system-School Messenger. To receive information by email, please make sure your contact information is current in your TxEis parent portal.
The CDC recommends the following steps to reduce the chance of spreading the COVID-19 virus:
• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
• If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
• Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
• Stay home when you are sick.
• Cover your mouth and nose with the inside of your elbow when you cough or sneeze.
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
We appreciate your patience and partnership as we do what’s best for children.
