Dear Lion Country Families,
On July 28th the Texas Education Agency changed the Health Guidance that schools were given as a basis of the Reopening of School Plans. This has caused disastrous consequences for the district as tremendous effort and public resources had been spent on the planning of these guidelines. The district continues to meet all directives and guidelines set forth by the Texas Education Agency. I know this is extremely frustrating for each of you as it is for myself and our employees and I apologize for the lack of a consistent path forward from the TEA. You have my word that we will continue to keep kids safe and do everything needed to reopen schools for the 2020-2021 school year to meet our students' needs. In order to have a successful year, we all must continue to be positive for our children and communicate with each other.
I have attached a link below to the updated school calendar and we will make the following adjustments to the start of school logistics. (LISD calendar - https://www.livingstonisd.com/calendar20-21)
The Lions Online Commitment Form has been reactivated and you will have until 7:59 am Monday, August 3rd to make your selection into this program. There will be no extensions past this date. If you have already signed up for Lions Online you do not need to do anything again. Students that select this online program must also complete the registration process through Parent Portal. (Link to Lions Online Commitment Form - Deadline has passed.
Student Registration for new and returning students must be completed through Parent Portal by Monday, August 3rd at 7:59 am. Your student will not have a schedule or teacher assignment for the first day of school if not finalized. Registration will not open again until August 13. (Link to Parent Portal - https://txeis.esc6.net:8443/ParentPortal/login?distid=187907)
Bus Registration must be completed by Monday, August 3rd at 7:59 am or your student will not be allowed to ride the bus on the first day of school. We must have accurate numbers to provide as much social distance as possible. Across the state, parents are being encouraged to take their students to school when feasible. (Link to Bus Form - Deadline has passed)
All questions about registration can be answered by contacting your child’s campus registrar during normal business hours.
The Final Summary of Reopening will be posted on the district website Thursday, August 6th, 2020 as per TEA Guidelines.
Thanks for your understanding,
Dr. Brent Hawkins
