Community help needed in COVID-19 mitigation

Lawsuits across the state regarding the Governor’s Order prohibiting school districts from implementing mask mandates have created a climate in which the legal authority for a school district to issue a mandate is changing daily. Due to the lack of clear guidance, at this time, LISD is not issuing a mask mandate. However, masks will be available for students and staff on campus, and we will continue to urge mask wearing for all students and staff while inside LISD facilities. In addition, the District is daily implementing all resources available to reduce the spread of COVID-19 including handwashing breaks, wide-spread availability of hand sanitizer, increasing and improving airflow, and frequent cleaning and disinfection. LISD will continue to monitor the number of positive cases among students and staff on all campuses and evaluate the mitigation measures for revision as needed in order to prevent closure.

We ask you, the LISD community, to do your part to keep our schools open and implement COVID-19 mitigation measures such as mask-wearing, hand washing, and get tested if you are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19.
