COVID-19 Response Plan - Phase 2 begins Monday, April 6

Greetings Lion Country,

COVID-19 will not steal our Lion pride. While we are facing this global crisis, my heart is warmed with the efforts that I see going on across our district. We are sensitive to the stress and anxiety that is being experienced across our community as the collateral damage is induced by this virus. Many have termed their emotions as grief or a state of deep loss. It’s times like these that we must be reminded of the great things that we do have and one only has to look at the acts of “can do” spirit being exhibited in Lion Country. I don’t think that anyone can say that perfection has been accomplished. These are not the best of times but what we can say is that we have done our best to this point with what we have. Our Child Nutrition Department, Transportation Department, and Technology Department have been nothing short of rock star status as they have mobilized 14 areas for the pick up of meals for our students that fed 9,412 meals last week. We have connectivity that has been stood up in the majority of these areas. Our instructional staff has been part of history-making to move their instructional efforts to digital in a short amount of time to serve our students. We have always held the values in this district that the most powerful learning is when our effective staff builds positive relationships with our students. I am proud that our staff has put together technology as a modality of instruction to drive our primary instruction in lieu of becoming a “worksheet factory” which would have been the easy path forward. Our success in Phase 2 of our COVID-19 Response Plan is going to be driven by how well we can all work together as a team. I have long held that we succeed or fail with people and these times require us communicating and working together. Campus offices have been shut down so your primary communication is best directed via email with your child’s classroom teacher. The LISD Administration Office can be reached at 936-328-2100 Monday through Thursday 8:00-3:30 if you do not have email access. We have also added an email address specifically for questions that can be routed to the appropriate area at questions@livingstonisd.com.
