Heat Related Illness

  • Send for an administrator, and nurse/trainer.
  • Get the victim to a cool place.
  • Loosen tight clothing.
  • Apply cool, wet cloths to the skin.
  • Fan the victim.
  • If the victim is conscious, give cool (not cold) water to drink.
  • Call LISD Police or 9-1-1 for an ambulance if the victim refuses water, vomits, exhibits an altered mental state, or loses consciousness.
