Weather Alerts

The district makes the safety of the stakeholders a priority in all decisions of school closure and weather-related matters. Livingston Independent School District covers over 300 square miles of local geography, and while in some cases, school may operate as scheduled, the district reminds everyone never to jeopardize the safety of their families. It is recommended to check the TXDOT website, Polk County Emergency Management website or social media, or the Polk County Sheriff’s Department's social media page on specific road closures. Always exercise extreme caution in weather-related matters.
Information regarding school closings or schedule changes due to bad weather events or loss of electricity will be shared in the following order.
The district superintendent will issue a school alert or school closing, and district employees will first be notified through a district email.
An automated message will be made to all parents & staff in the district by using the parent notification system – ParentSquare. Parents may log into the ParentSquare app to choose their notification preferences of emails, text messages or app notification.
If the district needs to delay the start of classes or cancel classes after the notification of staff and parents, the information will also be posted on the front of the district website.
Livingston Independent School District will also post on the District and Campus Facebook pages. You may access the District Facebook page by using the district social media icon found at the bottom of the LISD website.
